Hello everyone. It is not possible for me to tell how far along you are on your content creation journey. At some stage you will reach a point when you have built an audience. If you are still wondering how to do this click here or here. One really effective way to increase engagement and interaction with your audience is to use storytelling as part of your content strategy.

5 reasons why business storytelling will lead to greater engagement with your Target Audience

1. Emotional and not rational connection – Storytelling will build an emotional rather than a rational connection with your audience. Stories connect people – Ideally you will have both a rational and an emotional connection over time but connecting with your audience emotionally is a major plus.

2. Broader appeal – A well told story will have a broader appeal than a product demonstration or list of product benefits. Film-making is storytelling.

3. Memorable – People remember stories and the connection to your product/services rather than product claims.

4. Ideas/ themes – Stories can contain ideas and themes that are bigger than products.

5. Cultural relevance – Storytelling is part of the human experience and developed along side speech and language.

Parents of young children know very well the power of the bed-time story and its importance to their children’s development. Once you are able to harness storytelling in your content you will create a stronger relationship with your customers and prospects.

Ask any child of toddler age whether they like being small and many will express a desire to be bigger. From their perspective being bigger opens a world or more possibilities and lets face it – more toys. So if we generally know that at toddler age why is it that so many business owners fail to plan to make their businesses bigger? I am reminded of a quote from one of our nation’s favourite entrepreneurs – ‘Business is simple – it’s the people who make it complicated. ‘ – Theo Paphitis. This is very true because there are ways in which just by changing your thinking you can set yourself on a path to growth. Growth does not just happen – just as that washboard stomach that athletes have does not just appear – they have to work at it and you have to as well. Below are five ways that big thinking can help to grow your business.

5 Big thinking ways to grow your business.

1. Terminology – As soon as you can stop referring to your company as a ‘small’ business or a startup. Yes, you were or perhaps you still are but you must plan for growth and reposition yourself. It will be easier to attract customers, clients and partners if you are not forever labelling yourself small or startup. Startup equals not very experienced in many people’s eyes.

2. Business continuity – We are heading into the holiday season, a time when some business activity slows down. Should you close down for the summer? Absolutely not. If I was American I might have written ‘Hell no!’ because that has the right amount of emphasis. You have worked hard to extend the reach of your company and improve its perception and then you go and ruin it by basically shutting down during the summer sending out the message that you are a one man or one woman band. Instead create a contingency plan that maintains a good level of service and responsiveness which will help to grow your business.

3. Forward thinking – How often do you re-visit your business plan? Or update your strategy? When do you consider what your competitors are doing in detail? There are often fundamental changes in business, here are just a few examples – from high street to online, from desktop ecommerce to mobile e-commerce (m-commerce), from book reading to Kindle reading. Set aside some time each week to consider how your business should respond to changes in your sector and create an updated plan remembering to evaluate the changes that you make.

4. Big dreams – Have a big vision for your business. It plays a crucial role in growing your business. The mistake a lot of business owners make is that they have a small dream for their business and they achieve it and then go no further. Instead of being content with just being a product or service provider how about becoming a company that genuinely solves a big problem? Note this can be done commerically. Click here to see a good example of solving a big problem.

5. Global not local – It is now possible to enter international markets from the comfort of your own laptop. What steps have you taken to do grow your business internationally? Sometimes the effort required is principally a communications task – informing people that you are active in a country and establishing a structure and processes to trade.

This week’s post enables us to achieve two of our objectives with our blog – to demonstrate how content marketing works and to put some of our clients in the spotlight. One such client is Cloud Knowledge Base – Cloud Knowledge Base helps businesses become more resourceful by migrating to the Cloud.

We have been creating content for them, distributing via relevant social media platforms and consulting on overall marketing strategy.

Last Friday (April 26th) Cloud Knowledge Base were awarded Best Stand at the Richmond Business Expo but more significantly they were able to generate over 150 qualified new business leads which is absolutely phenomenal.

How did content marketing help them achieve this level of success?

1. Pre announced their appearance at the event as an exhibitor

2. Established their authority in the Cloud solutions sector

3. Delivered a specific time sensitive call to action.

4. Started conversations that were continued at the event.

5. A great stand, excellent promo team and cupcakes also contributed to their success.

Are you keen to find out what content marketing can achieve for your business? If so, feel free to give us a call on +44 (0) 845 226247 or drop us an email via mail@marketingfundamentals.com – We look forward to hearing from you.

It will not have escaped your attention that the focus always seems to be on using social media to market your business. This focus, some would say obsession, means that some ‘old school’ marketing techniques that are still effective are being overlooked. I think it is time that business owners and entrepreneurs, particularly those that have locality based marketing strategies reconsider the use of vehicle graphics.

Vehicle Graphics

Here are 5 reasons why I think vehicle graphics should be an essential part of your marketing mix:

1. Reach

According to a recent 3M study, there is an audience reach of up to 3,000 people every hour if your vehicle is out and about on busy roads. With a reach that great, can you risk not having your vehicle branded to communicate who you are and what you do?

2. Non Stop Marketing

Even when your car or van is parked on the street, and you’re tucked up in bed after a busy day, it’s still out there, getting noticed. It’s a 24/7 marketing tool that quite literally can help drive your business forward.

3. Variety is the Spice of Life

The product range for vehicle graphics is vast. From just a simple branding operation through to full vehicle wraps, which means there’s a solution for every type of business –whether you’re a one-man-band or have a whole fleet of haulage lorries.

4. Look at the Bigger Picture

Applying graphics to your company vehicle should be seen as a long-term investment and not a quick fix. If you compare the price of vehicle wrapping to billboard advertising you’ll soon see it won’t take you long to get better value for your money.

5. Imagination has no Limits

Once you have defined your budget, the only limitation to your options when considering a vehicle wrap is your imagination. There’s no doubt about it that striking graphics attract attention and generate discussions. Make people stop and stare at your company details rather than those of your competitors.

We all know you have to spend money to make money, (it’s a sad but true fact of life) but I think it’s about time people wised up and started investing in marketing campaigns that actually make a difference to your brand awareness as well as generating leads and I am confident that vehicle graphics are up there with the best of them.

Would you like to consider vehicle graphics for your business? <a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.signsexpress.co.uk/branch/norwich" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"target="_blank" rel="noopener">Please contact us here.
