From their perspective  being bigger opens a world or more possibilities and lets face it &#8211; more toys. So if we generally know that at toddler age why is it that so many business owners fail to plan to make their businesses bigger? I am reminded of a quote from one of our nation&#8217;s favourite entrepreneurs &#8211;<strong> &#8216;Business is simple &#8211; it&#8217;s the people who make it complicated. &#8216;</strong> &#8211; <strong>Theo Paphitis.</strong> This is very true because there are ways in which just by changing your thinking you can set yourself on a path to growth.  Growth does not just happen &#8211; just as that washboard stomach that athletes have does not just appear &#8211; they have to work at it and you have to as well. Below are five ways that big thinking can help to <a href="https://www.marketingfundamentals.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grow your business</a>.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">5 Big thinking ways to grow your business.</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>1. Terminology</strong> &#8211;  As soon as you can stop referring to your company as a &#8216;small&#8217; business or a startup. Yes, you were or perhaps you still are but you must plan for growth and reposition yourself. It will be easier to attract customers, clients and partners if you are not forever labelling yourself small or startup. Startup equals not very experienced in many people&#8217;s eyes.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>2. Business continuity &#8211;</strong> We are heading into the holiday season, a time when some business activity slows down. Should you close down for the summer? Absolutely not. If I was American I might have written &#8216;Hell no!&#8217; because that has the right amount of emphasis. You have worked hard to extend the reach of your company and improve its perception and then you go and ruin it by basically shutting down during the summer sending out the message that you are a one man or one woman band. Instead create a contingency plan that maintains a good level of service and responsiveness which will help to grow your business.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>3. Forward thinking &#8211;</strong> How often do you re-visit your business plan? Or update your strategy? When do you consider what your competitors are doing in detail? There are often fundamental changes in business, here are just a few examples &#8211; from high street to online, from desktop ecommerce to mobile e-commerce (m-commerce), from book reading to Kindle reading.  Set aside some time each week to consider how your business should respond to changes in your sector and create an updated plan remembering to evaluate the changes that you make.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>4. Big dreams &#8211;</strong> Have a big vision for your business.It plays a crucial role in growing your business. The mistake a lot of business owners make is that they have a small dream for their business and they achieve it and then go no further. Instead of being content with just being a product or service provider how about becoming a company that genuinely solves a big problem? Note this can be done commerically. <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>5. Global not local &#8211;</strong> It is now possible to enter international markets from the comfort of your own laptop. Sometimes the effort required is principally a communications task &#8211; informing people that you are active in a country and establishing a structure and processes to trade.</p>

The good news is that below are<strong> 7 ways to ensure that your business endures </strong>whatever the state of the economy. </p>

Customer care</strong> &#8211; It is more expensive to recruit new customers than to re-engage with lapsed customers or to upsell existing customers and yet so many companies neglect this area or fail to provide <strong>favourable customer experiences.</strong> Please note that if you over-chase an existing customer for payment then you create an <strong>unfavourable customer experience</strong> for them and they are unlikely to return or to refer anyone to you.</p>
<p><strong>2. Cash-flow </strong>– Cash flow management is fundamental but must be considered in the context of the health of the business as a whole. Please re-read the last sentence of &#8216;customer care&#8217; again. <p><strong>3. Content </strong>&#8211; Your customers and leads love fresh regularly updated content just as the search engine do. Unfortunately 90% of SME &#038; entrepreneur based businesses do not generate enough content and miss an accessible opportunity to promote themselves because of this.</p>
<p><strong>4. Conversions</strong> &#8211; Increasing relevant web traffic is great providing that your conversion ratio (of web visitors to enquiries and sales) is strong. Most entrepreneurs and business owners are good at face to face conversions of leads but not so good at online conversions &#8211; we can improve this for you.  </p>
<p><strong>5. Commitment</strong> &#8211; If you follow my Twitter account (@TheMikePitt) and regularly read this blog you will have seen lots of inspirational quotes and examples of people who have succeeded against the odds. If you mirror the commitment they showed you will achieve success in your chosen activity.  </p>
<p><strong> 6. Consistency</strong> &#8211; Great businesses similar to great sporting teams are established with consistency at their core. You will not be judged on an impressive week or month but on your ability to deliver your chosen products or services time after time. </p>
<p><strong>7. Courage</strong> &#8211; The path of the entrepreneur or business owner can be lonely at times and hard. It&#8217;s <strong>not all black tie awards and Magnums of champagne</strong>. It&#8217;s easy to give up to blame external forces but the rewards for showing courage, taking risks and brave decisions can be immense. Are you up for it? </p>

<p>Hello everyone. This is not the post that I was scheduled to write for today. Readers of my book <a href="http://amzn.to/RGNyxQ " target="_blank" rel="noopener">‘How to TurboCharge Your Business with a Blog’</a> will know that I have a methodology to generate an on-going stream of content. Last week I read about high street retailer <strong>Jessops</strong> going into administration and then yesterday <strong>HMV</strong>. These two events caused me to change tack and I want to reach out to those people who are now facing redundancy at Jessops, HMV and elsewhere.</p>
<p><strong> 1. Dreams</strong> &#8211; Blow the cobwebs off your dreams. Remember your dreams? Those that you had in your youth before you were <strong>living a month to month existence.</strong> Okay, so maybe you won’t now become Arsenal’s best striker but redundancy can be an opportunity <strong>to do what you really want to do</strong> rather than what you settled on doing to pay your bills.</p>
<p><strong>2. Hope</strong> &#8211; The Return of real hope – Not hope that you can get through this month or the year but genuine hope that you will feel excited again and <strong>wake each day keen to find out what the day has in store</strong> &#8211; just as you did as a child.</p>
<p><strong>3. Signal </strong>&#8211; If you are looking for a sign this is it! It takes courage to start something new or follow a new path. <strong>Maybe this is the ‘push’ that you needed. </strong></p>
<p><strong>4. Happiness</strong> &#8211; Don’t chase money – chase happiness. This is a <strong>fundamental life lesson</strong> that you need to learn and if you go about it in the right way happiness will lead to a greater sense of fulfilment, success and money too. <p><strong>5. Work and life</strong> Does your work/life balance need re-booting? Were you working all hours and neglecting your friends and family? This is an opportunity to correct that and be present in the lives of the people who matter most to you.</p>
