In this video Mike Pitt assesses whether YouTube is still a suitable platform for your B2B businesses. YouTube is dominated by entertainment videos and Mike assesses the pros and cons. This video will be of interest to business owners, B2B marketing managers, Content Marketing professionals, Social Media Managers and everyone responsible for Content Marketing in their respective companies.

Is YouTube Still Suitable for B2B Businesses?

There have been a lot of changes on YouTube recently so I thought it was worth reassessing whether B2B businesses should still upload their video content onto the platform. Fundamentally YouTube is dominated by entertainment content but that is not the only reason to re-evaluate the platform. Many advertisers have pulled advertising from the platform because their ads had been placed against inappropriate content.

In this video I assess the pros and cons for content creators from B2B businesses.
This video is entitled, Do I Still Use Google+ by Mike Pitt. This is video number 185 and blog post number 404. You can subscribe to our channel . Mike Pitt is the Founder of Marketing Fundamentals Ltd, which is a B2B Content Marketing Agency in London. In this video Mike Pitt gives his answer to the question, Do I Still use Google+? He also explains the reasons for his answer. It might not be the answer that you were expecting.

Do I Still Use Google+ ?

The common consensus among marketing professionals and the public at large is that Google+ was and remains a complete failure. It was an attempt by Google to replicate the success that Facebook and Twitter had. Other than having a Google My Business page most B2B businesses are no longer active on the platform and new businesses do not make it a priority. While it is clear that Google+ did not succeed in growing a similar user base to Facebook that has 1.86 billion monthly active users* or Twitter with 319 monthly active users it does still have 300 million monthly active users which would be regarded as a considerable audience for most platforms. To give this further context, Pinterest only has around 150 million monthly active users. There are still benefits to using Google + and I discuss these in the video here .Let me know what you think in the blog comments section below or in the YouTube comments section.

Now that Content Marketing has been shown to be the way of the future, Content Marketers have more to do than ever before. Time management is all well and good, but there’s something even better just over the horizon. We’re talking about marketing automation.

Marketing automation, if used aptly, can be applied to every step of the sales and marketing funnel. Marketing automation software lets marketers customize and deliver personalized content to consumers, lightening the workload tremendously and helping to maximize return on investment (ROI).

So what is it? Marketing automation software is a multifunctional suite of tools that have several key functions. They aid in the development and analysis of marketing campaigns, as well as consumer and market demographics by providing precise analytics tools. Automation software can also take the stress and hassle out of managing of multiple campaigns by helping to streamline the creation and planning process, using editorial calendars and other task management systems. But best of all, they help with the process of transforming leads into actual, paying customers, by nurturing them on their way through the sales funnel.

Which marketing automation software should you choose?

This will depend on your requirements but there is a good assessment of your options here.

Which leads are worth following up on?

Anyone in Sales will tell you that some leads are worth more than others. What does this mean? It means that some leads are much more likely to convert than other ones. Imagine that a computer salesman has two phone numbers: he got the first one from a guest at a video game convention, the other, he found on a scrap of paper on the way home. Which one do you think he’s going to call first?

Salespeople and marketers used to have to make these judgement calls on their own. But marketing automation software includes an automated scoring system to judge how valuable a lead is and assign it a score accordingly. This allows marketers to prioritize high-value leads over low quality ones.

Content promotion

Marketing automation software also makes it easy to promote content and capture new leads (which are then automatically rated for quality). Marketing automation software including scheduling and targeting options to allow marketers to easily plan and coordinate their efforts on social media. With powerful tools like this, combined with bundled support for editorial calendars, marketers can be sure that they’re covering all their bases.

Customer intelligence

Automation software collects customer contact information right on the landing page by offering downloads and free newsletters with registration. By sorting these leads according to referral information and specific interests, marketing automation software helps sort these newly harvested leads by their quality scores.

The bottom line

Marketing automation software simplifies and condenses the growing list of tasks marketers are expected to take care of, allowing them to focus on the harder stuff. As these tools increase in sophistication, one marketer will be able to do the work of a team, increasing efficiency tremendously.

As digital marketing takes a lead over conventional outbound marketing, one question that every corporate is wondering is how to use the networking site LinkedIn. Undoubtedly, a company website is imperative and will remain crucial, especially in the B2B sector, but where does LinkedIn fit in? In line with the doubts, here are some facts that will highlight the importance of LinkedIn company profile.

Linkedin Company Profile – Why is it important for B2B Businesses?

Value the engagement first

That’s what most B2B business needs, and possibly only a few are achieving the same. You have a company website, where you are posting your blogs and articles, but how many prospects, clients and businesses are reading them, let alone the sharing? This is where many marketing experts are of the opinion that LinkedIn works better, given that it is an established network of corporate professionals. This, however, doesn’t imply that your company blog cannot get the same engagement. However in the most likely scenario, with adequate planning, your marketing team can do it better on LinkedIn.Please note this is not a case of one or the other you can do both well.

Avoiding elusive ways of marketing

Let’s talk of a situation where you have invested few thousand dollars in developing, designing and maintaining a website and are investing resource in creating regular blog updates. Even then, your prospects who land up on the website willl also be interested in the company profile and not just the blogs.

That’s where LinkedIn has the potential to do well. It offers a perfect B2B content sharing network, where people go looking for content, and usually, whatever blogs, news or updates are posted, they have healthier sharing value. Adding to this, LinkedIn is followed by millions of peers and businesses, which is why it can work better than a company blog in some cases.

Deriving better values with LinkedIn and Company website

Most conventional businesses and IT giants have millions of followers on LinkedIn, but does that indicate the departure of company websites? Definitely not! At least that’s not what professional marketing gurus will tell you. Every company must have a business portal that contains the company profile which helps clients, peers and other businesses know about the company.

However, for marketing and blogs, LinkedIn has great potential. It potentially brings in a lot of eyeballs to your content, which now has better sharing and re-sharing value than on the company blog alone . The content on the networking giant should be explosive enough to lead your prospects reach the company website, and that’s the key!

LinkedIn Pulse

Post LinkedIn’s acquisition of Pulse, they have fully integrated LinkedIn’s feeds into the Pulse application. This means whatever news feeds go out on LinkedIn Pulse, will be read by 30 million subscribers of the Pulse application alone. Moreover, in LinkedIn Pulse, people can easily follow your company profile. This way, any update you make on your company profile will be broadcasted to all your followers, which will enhance engagement.

Don’t miss out on the costing advantage

Unlike creating a blog or website, the process of making a LinkedIn company page is easier and hassle free and there are limited initiatives that your marketing team needs to put in. Without going high on promotional activities, it takes only a few good posts to get the employees, stakeholders, peers, prospects and other businesses engaged. That’s something most B2B firms are looking for.

If your marketing team has yet taken note, it’s time to shift the course of action. Prospects and businesses want better, and LinkedIn surely the bridges process of wooing them!
