This is has been driven by the amazing success of TikTok which prompted Instagram and YouTube to create their own copies of TikTok. That is how Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts were born. All of these platforms have forced Content Creators to learn a new content format and to understand how to be successful with this new format. Has this been good for Content Creators? Please keep reading to discover my thoughts on this topic.</p>
<p>The choice between short form content and long form content depends on various factors, including the goals of the content creator, the target audience, and the platform being used. Both types of content have their advantages and can be effective in different scenarios. Here&#8217;s a breakdown of each:</p>
<h2>Short Form Content</h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<ol>
<li>Concise and focused: Short form content allows you to deliver your message quickly and succinctly, making it ideal for capturing attention in a fast-paced online environment.</li>
<li>Easy to consume: Shorter content tends to be more easily digestible, especially for audiences with limited time or attention spans.</li>
<li>Shareability: Short form content is often more shareable, making it easier to spread your message across social media platforms.</li>
<li>Versatility: Shorter pieces can be used as teasers or introductions to longer content, driving traffic to more comprehensive resources.</li>
</ol>
<h2>Long Form Content</h2>

<li>In-depth exploration: Long form content provides the opportunity to delve deep into a subject, offering comprehensive information and analysis. It allows you to showcase your expertise and provide valuable insights to your audience.</li>
<li>Search engine optimization (SEO): Longer content tends to perform better in search engine rankings, as search engines often favor comprehensive and authoritative pieces.</li>
<li>Establishing authority: Well-researched and comprehensive long form content can position you as an authority in your field and help build credibility with your audience.</li>
<li>Engagement and loyalty: Long form content has the potential to engage readers for an extended period, allowing them to immerse themselves in your content and develop a stronger connection with your brand.</li>
</ol>
<p>Ultimately, the best approach for content creators often involves a combination of short form and long form content. Short form content can be useful for capturing attention and driving initial engagement, while long form content provides an opportunity to nurture relationships, demonstrate expertise, and provide more value. It&#8217;s important to understand your audience&#8217;s preferences and needs, experiment with different formats, and adapt your content strategy accordingly.</p>
<h2>My Verdict</h2>
<p>I am a member of an official YouTube Shorts community and have also conducted my own research into Short Form Content. I have posted hundreds of TikToks, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Here are my findings:</p>
<p>a) Short Form Content may increase your exposure to a wider audience but these viewers have no connection to you. They are not likely to become part of your community or watch any ads around your YouTube Shorts, Reels or TikToks.</p>
<p>b) The majority of Content Creators (98%) are making no money at all from Short Form Content and would be better off focusing on Long Form Content i.e. uploading videos longer than 8 minutes to YouTube and monetizing via Adsense.</p>
<p>c) There are many Content Creators on TikTok or YouTube Shorts with large followings (200K +) that are making no money from their following.</p>
<p>d) For the majority of Content Creators, creating Short Form Content is effectively working for free. It&#8217;s great for the video platforms because they get lots of User Generated Content (UGC) but it is not great for the Content Creators.</p>
<p>e) Long Form Content is more effective than Short Form Content at generating leads for B2B businesses because you have the chance to build a relationship with the viewer as they consume your longer videos. Viewers are more likely to enter your sales funnel.</p>

<p>During the livestream it quickly became very apparent that I was attracting a lot more live viewers on TikTok compared to YouTube. I attracted ten times as many viewers on TikTok. At the time of the livestream I had less than 2000 followers on <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@themikepitt">TikTok</a></span> and around 20,000 subscribers on<span style="color: #ff0000;"></span>. To me, this was very interesting so in today&#8217;s post I wanted to explore why I was able to attract so many more live viewers on TikTok compared to YouTube.</p>

<h2>TikTok Lives vs YouTube Lives</h2>

<p>There are several possible reasons why TikTok Lives may attract more viewers than YouTube Lives:</p>
<ul>
<li>TikTok&#8217;s algorithm is more focused on promoting live content: TikTok&#8217;s algorithm places a high emphasis on live content, which means that when someone goes live, their followers are more likely to be notified and see it. In contrast, YouTube&#8217;s algorithm is more focused on promoting pre-recorded content, which means that live content may not get as much visibility.</li>

<ul>
<li>TikTok&#8217;s younger user base: TikTok&#8217;s user base is generally younger than YouTube&#8217;s user base. Younger audiences may be more likely to engage with live content and enjoy watching their favourite creators in real-time.</li>

<li>TikTok&#8217;s ease of use: TikTok&#8217;s live streaming feature is very easy to use and requires minimal setup. In contrast, YouTube&#8217;s live streaming feature can be more complex and require more technical expertise, which may discourage some creators from going live.</li>

<ul>
<li>TikTok&#8217;s social features: TikTok&#8217;s live streaming feature includes a number of social features, such as the ability to send virtual gifts, chat with other viewers, and participate in challenges and games. These features may help to create a more engaging and interactive experience for viewers.</li>
</ul>
<p>Overall, it&#8217;s likely that a combination of these factors contributes to TikTok Lives attracting more viewers than YouTube Lives. However, it&#8217;s important to note that the popularity of live content can vary depending on the specific niche and audience, so there may be cases where YouTube Lives are more popular than TikTok Lives.</p>

<h2>TikTok Account</h2>
<p>TikTok is a Social Media app based on short videos of either 15 seconds or 60 seconds duration, it was initially launched in China as Douyin in 2016. TikTok went global in August 2018 when TikTok was merged with another app called Musical.ly. TikTok is now used in 155 countries worldwide, has 800 million monthly active users and  and its users post in 75 different languages. The mobile app is available in the App Store, the Google Play Store and there is also a desktop version.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://youtu.be/F7jBXA4_Q3w">In this video,</a> </span>I explain why I created a TikTok account. My idea was to have a different content focus on TikTok. <p>The conventional wisdom in marketing circles is that Influencer Marketing is a new spin on celebrity endorsements and celebrity endorsements are nothing new in the business world. One of the earliest ever celebrity endorsements was created by the pottery company, Wedgwood in the United Kingdom. The founder, Josiah Wedgwood used royal endorsements as a marketing device to show value in the company and promote its products in the 1760s.</p>
<p>One of the inherent problems with standard celebrity endorsements is that often the celebrity&#8217;s star status can mean that the focus becomes the celebrity rather than the product they are being paid to promote.  A good example of this is Michael Jordan&#8217;s endorsement deal with Rayovac batteries.</p>
<h2>Influencer Marketing</h2>
<p>When brands form strategic partnerships with individuals who have lots of online followers to promote their products or services, <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://intellifluence.com/marketing">this is called Influencer Marketing. </a></span></p>
<p>These influencers with large online followings represents an improvement on standard sponsorships or celebrity endorsements because the introduction of Social Media means that they can now connect directly with their followers.</p>
<p>The emergence <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.bizcommunity.com/Article/196/669/207927.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">of influencers with audiences of their own</a></span> on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook has elevated them to similar potential earnings levels as &#8216;old school&#8217; celebrities. Consider this, Kylie Jenner now earns $1.2 million per post on Instagram.</p>
<p>I know what you are thinking, this is all very interesting in a general sense but Influencer Marketing is for business to consumer audiences, isn&#8217;t it? Kylie Jenner isn&#8217;t going to help me sell a SaaS product to middle -aged business executives,  is she?</p>
<h2>Micro Influencers</h2>
<p>You are right. Kylie Jenner would not the most strategically sound choice in that scenario. First of all, you must identify your target audience and your objectives and then partner with a micro influencer who is relevant for your target audience. A micro influencer has a smaller online audience than an influencer but they are usually experts in their field and have a tight-knit community of followers who trust and respect them.</p>
<p>Micro influencers are accessible and their followers take their recommendations seriously and will act upon them. Consider individuals with 10 -20, 000 followers online rather than millions and assess their engagement levels on their websites and social channels. Micro influencers are perfect for B2B focused businesses and can dramatically <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbescommunicationscouncil/2020/09/02/in-marketing-a-strong-brand-is-the-ultimate-influencer/#79abf80266c1">increase your company and brand&#8217;s exposure,</a></span> bringing new leads to your business.</p>
