However, there are ongoing discussions and concerns about the ethical, societal, and safety implications of AI development, deployment, and potential misuse. Here are some key points to consider:</p>

<li>Regulation and Governance: Governments and international organisations are starting to develop regulations and guidelines for AI technology. The aim is to ensure responsible and safe development and use of AI.</li>

<p>In order to make business breakthroughs, it is important to go beyond doing what everyone else is doing. In the B2B sector, everyone including your competitors are active on LinkedIn. Therefore creating content and posting on LinkedIn on its own will not be enough to maximise the new business opportunities for your business.  <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://youtu.be/dWuDdwxnxK8">In this video,</a></span> I discuss how YouTube has become a very effective lead generation tool for my business. In my experience, YouTube has generated more leads for my business than LinkedIn. Whether you’re fairly new to the industry or have been around for decades, each year brings new challenges and liabilities previous ones didn’t. Planning ahead for contingencies helps you navigate the ever-shifting landscape of running your own company.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The landscape of how people conduct business shifted dramatically in the last year or so. In addition, many of your small business clients may not have overcome the pandemic&#8217;s challenges, meaning you&#8217;ve lost revenue as well. In the 2021 Deloitte Global Resilience Report, <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www2.deloitte.com/global/en/insights/topics/strategy/characteristics-resilient-organizations.html">60% of CEOS fear similar disruptions</a> </span>will continue and impact all types of businesses.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you want to be one of the small business owners who come out on top of the challenges, here are some liabilities to consider this year. We’ll also talk about how to bulletproof your company against them.</p>
<h2>1. Lack of Agility</h2>
<p>If the pandemic taught business owners anything, it was the importance of being flexible and able to adapt at a moment’s notice. What makes some companies better able to shift focus than others?</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Start with your purpose as a brand. Is it too specific? One example of brands changing what they did during the pandemic can be seen in local distilleries. Many stopped making alcohol and shifted to creating hand sanitizer to meet public need.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Train your employees from day one to come up with creative solutions. Give them the freedom to try new things. Then, when you’re faced with a situation where you must adapt, you’ll already have staff who think outside the box.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Prepare:</strong> Ask what areas you’re rigid in. How can you become more flexible? Are there any products or services that might suffer during a global crisis? What would you do instead?</p>
<h2>2. Outdated Features</h2>
<p>When business is slow, it’s easy to let things go, particularly with a brick-and-mortar location. You can lose a lot of customers simply by making a poor first impression. For example, your <a href="https://www.isasign.com/top-reasons-to-replace-old-business-signs/"><span style="color: #ff0000;">interior signage can draw people into your store</span></a> or drive them away.</p>

<p>When you can’t afford a complete remodel, a fresh coat of paint or deep cleaning can help spruce things up.</p>

<p><strong>Prepare:</strong> Look at your office through the eyes of your clients. Would you want to come inside? Does it look inviting? What about your online presence? Is your website current and covers modern trends?</p>
<h2>3. Legal Liabilities</h2>
<p>Every business has some typical legal liabilities. For example, an employee falls and gets hurt on some flooring that was sticking up. You can mitigate many of the risks associated with potential lawsuits by keeping your building in good repair.</p>

<p>You’ll also face litigation over issues you can’t foresee, such as damaging a business’ reputation through poor marketing efforts. No matter how protected you think you are, it’s always possible you’ll face legal action.</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Prepare: </strong>Secure property insurance to cover slips, falls and other disasters. You can also tag an umbrella policy on most businesses to cover you for unknown issues. Talk to your insurance agent about what policy might work best for you.</p>
<h2>4. Reputation Management</h2>
<p>At some point in your business’s growth, you likely made a mistake or two. Perhaps Facebook and Google have multiple bad reviews listed for your company. Once your reputation tanks, it’s difficult to get it back. People may shy away from doing business with you out of fear the issues still exist.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Your first step is figuring out how others see your brand. Check out online reviews and poll your current customers. If you want honest feedback, allow for anonymous comments. Also, take the time to look back over your customer complaints. The issues people call about are usually a big indicator of where your problems lie.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Prepare:</strong> The only way to improve your brand image is via one customer at a time. Start with those who’ve left out of frustration. Call and have a candid conversation with them. Ask for their ideas on how to improve. Ask for another chance at no risk to them. For example, you create a marketing campaign and they only pay if they see results.</p>

<p>If you can turn a past critic into a raving fan, your reputation score will improve by leaps. Take the time to respond to negative online reviews so others can see the steps you’ve taken to fix issues.</p>
<h2>5. Open Positions</h2>
<p>A recent Bloomberg report looked at the issues many businesses have with finding qualified employees.  Around <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-05/businesses-can-t-fill-jobs-despite-high-u-s-unemployment">42% of small businesses</a></span> state they can&#8217;t fill open positions, and 91% said the many applicants were unqualified for the job.</p>

<p>A lack of staff creates lag times in finishing work. Since many marketing campaigns run on a tight schedule, a lack of qualified staff will either overload your current workers or cause projects to go unfinished.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Prepare: </strong>Don’t wait until you have an opening to look for the best candidates. Cultivate new leads by hiring interns and staying involved in the industry. If a person comes along who has skills and is a good match, figure out how to work them into your team. You can always expand sales when needed.</p>
<h2>6. Security Issues</h2>
<p>Cyberthreats grow nearly every year. Hackers get better at getting into systems and gaining access to your personal data. If you don’t take steps to mitigate the risk, you’ll wind up with unhappy customers or a website taken hostage by people wanting a payout.</p>

<p>With more people working remotely, there is even more risk of criminals gaining access through various entry points.</p>

<p><strong>Prepare: </strong>Install the latest virus protection software on all machines used in the running of your marketing company. For those who work from home, either provide a computer or free antivirus software. Train employees how to spot phishing and other scams. Be proactive in protecting information.</p>

<p>The above six liabilities are common to marketing businesses. However, each company has unique challenges to overcome. Assess all the risks that might derail you from your goals for the next few years. How can you overcome those issues and keep your company on an upward trajectory?</p>

The booth space and presence many businesses relied on to make connections with new leads vanished overnight. Much of the world has changed, and you might wonder what tradeshow marketing will look like as we head into 2022 in under a year.</p>

<p>Statista predicts the global <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.statista.com/topics/1498/trade-show-marketing/">trade show market will reach $40 billion</a> </span>by 2023. At the moment, many planned events are virtual connections. While there are advantages to a digital gathering, there are also limitations. It’s hard to make a connection with someone you don’t know when you aren’t face to face.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If your business utilizes conferences to increase brand awareness, start planning now for a return to in-person events. Things will return to old patterns, but expect to see some changes in trade show marketing as well.</p>
<h2>How COVID-19 Changed the Trade Show Industry</h2>
<p>In early 2020, companies canceled significant exhibitions like Google I/O and Mobile World Congress, leading the way for smaller events to follow suit. Some people expect a vaccinated world will return to what it was in 2019.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>However, people have adapted to living a different lifestyle in the last year. They see the cost savings and convenience of Zoom calls and online meetings. Companies may be reluctant to pay for trade show space, travel for employees to man a booth, and many other factors involved in a physical show.</p>

<p>While the traditional convention won’t completely go away, expect to see concessions for those who prefer online conferences. Some of the things you should consider about tradeshow marketing in 2022 include:</p>
<h2>1. Focus on the Experience</h2>
<p>People will be much choosier about how they spend their time. One thing the pandemic taught us was that time is precious. More people are focusing on family and friends than ever before. They won’t want to waste their time visiting a booth that doesn’t 100% meet their needs.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Customer experience (CX) becomes even more vital to a successful presence. Look for ways to create a sleek, eye-catching space. Make sure you <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.rochestermagnet.com/blog/entry/the-perfect-match-match-pole-magnets-for-tradeshow-booths">match up vinyl pieces 100% of the time</a></span> with matched pole magnets. You&#8217;ll also save time on setup — even your workers won’t want to waste precious moments.</p>

<p>Pay attention to everything from your headlines to the freebies you give away. Every element of your booth must engage the user and create a stellar CX.</p>
<h2>2. Attend More Shows</h2>
<p>People are much more aware of large crowds and social distancing. While the world works to get the virus’s emerging strains under control, expect events to remain small. Registration and booth space may be limited.</p>

<p>You might need to attend two shows with fewer attendees to reach the same number of people you could in the past. Save money by planning events back-to-back in nearby cities. Cut down on travel and expenses by combining flights and efforts.</p>
<h2>3. Roll With the Times</h2>
<p>Be prepared for massive changes when you do return to tradeshows. The American Hotel and Lodging Association’s state of the industry report predicts as many as <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.tsnn.com/news/10-predictions-meetings-and-events-2021">500,000 fewer jobs</a></span> throughout 2022.</p>

<p>People may be frightened and reluctant to return to in-person events. How deep the impact goes depends on how quickly the world distributes the vaccines and how many people get the vaccine.</p>

<p>Know when cancellations can occur. Be prepared to pull out of some trade shows if registrations are low.</p>
<h2>4. Seek Out Hybrid Events</h2>
<p>Many experts predict hybrid events will be the wave of the future. They can draw more attendees than in-person events. People who otherwise would never go to a particular conference will jump on virtual options and participate.</p>

<p>If your goal with tradeshow marketing is to reach as many people as possible, a hybrid event allows you to stretch your influence to anywhere in the world.</p>
<h2>5. Participate in Social Media Marketing</h2>
<p>The Digital 2021: Global Overview Report shows a <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://datareportal.com/reports/digital-2021-global-overview-report">13% increase in social media users</a></span> in the past 12 months. At the beginning of January 2021, there were 4.2 billion people active on various platforms. The number will only grow in the coming year.</p>

<p>If you aren’t promoting your presence at trade shows on social, you need to figure out an omnichannel approach. How can you get conference attendees to visit your social media pages? How can you drive your social media followers to information about your booth?</p>
<h2>6. Look for Value</h2>
<p>Some trade shows attempted to go virtual, but exhibitors saw few advantages to participating. They still paid a fee and had the work of setting up a virtual exhibit. However, they didn’t get the same traction as an in-person event.</p>

<p>If you plan to participate in hybrid trade show marketing, look for ones offering unique opportunities. Perhaps you can send printed materials to registrants matching your target audience profile.</p>

<p>If your tradeshow of choice does not offer the options you need, prepare to find new events. Some groups have met online for longer than others. They’ve perfected online promotions and know how to meet the needs of both attendees and exhibitors.</p>
<h2>7. Be Flexible</h2>
<p>If 2020 taught marketers anything, it was to be open to new possibilities. As things open back up and trade shows resume, expect the world to look a little different than it did in 2019. Attendees may still wear masks, making communication more difficult. Passing out samples and goods will require separate packaging and attention to detail.</p>

<p>Go into your next event prepared for strict guidelines. At the same time, people still want an emotional connection. They want you to engage them and offer an experience. Look for ways to reach out even in a world where you have to remain at a distance.</p>

<p>The primary benefit of being an Early Adopter is that it potentially gives you a huge advantage over those who arrive late &#8216;to the party&#8217;. In the video, I discuss the first YouTubers who created channels in 2005 when YouTube started.  Consider also those early investors in cryptocurrency, particularly bitcoin who went on to create multi-million dollar fortunes because they had the good sense to invest in bitcoin when its price was only a few cents per unit. That&#8217;s a great example of the benefits of being an Early Adopter.  <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://youtu.be/XWRxYbyaGWM">Watch the video</a></span> to discover one example of when I was an Early Adopter on a Social Media platform and also an explanation of what the possible downsides of being an Early Adopter could be.</p>

<p>This is a blog post and a video that I did not want to make. I wished it was unnecessary, unfortunately most of us are aware that Social Media has an ugly side to it. I am referring to the prevalence of online abuse,  this abuse tends to be directed at women in the public eye, ethnic minorities or people with disabilities. Fortunately, we have an approach to handling this type of abuse that has proved effective.</p>
<p>I am happy to help anyone who is suffering from online abuse. This is not like most of posts where I list out an action plan because I do not want to alert the abusers to the steps being taken.
