<p>Last October, October 17th to be precise, I ran a live test and went live simultaneously on YouTube and TikTok. If you want to watch that livestream <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J10VBh_xryg">you can do so here. </a></span></p>
<p>During the livestream it quickly became very apparent that I was attracting a lot more live viewers on TikTok compared to YouTube. I attracted ten times as many viewers on TikTok. At the time of the livestream I had less than 2000 followers on <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://www.tiktok.com/@themikepitt">TikTok</a></span> and around 20,000 subscribers on<span style="color: #ff0000;"></span>. To me, this was very interesting so in today&#8217;s post I wanted to explore why I was able to attract so many more live viewers on TikTok compared to YouTube.</p>

<h2>TikTok Lives vs YouTube Lives</h2>

<p>There are several possible reasons why TikTok Lives may attract more viewers than YouTube Lives:</p>
<ul>
<li>TikTok&#8217;s algorithm is more focused on promoting live content: TikTok&#8217;s algorithm places a high emphasis on live content, which means that when someone goes live, their followers are more likely to be notified and see it. In contrast, YouTube&#8217;s algorithm is more focused on promoting pre-recorded content, which means that live content may not get as much visibility.</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<li>TikTok&#8217;s younger user base: TikTok&#8217;s user base is generally younger than YouTube&#8217;s user base. Younger audiences may be more likely to engage with live content and enjoy watching their favourite creators in real-time.</li>

<li>TikTok&#8217;s ease of use: TikTok&#8217;s live streaming feature is very easy to use and requires minimal setup. In contrast, YouTube&#8217;s live streaming feature can be more complex and require more technical expertise, which may discourage some creators from going live.</li>

<ul>
<li>TikTok&#8217;s social features: TikTok&#8217;s live streaming feature includes a number of social features, such as the ability to send virtual gifts, chat with other viewers, and participate in challenges and games. These features may help to create a more engaging and interactive experience for viewers.</li>
</ul>
<p>Overall, it&#8217;s likely that a combination of these factors contributes to TikTok Lives attracting more viewers than YouTube Lives. However, it&#8217;s important to note that the popularity of live content can vary depending on the specific niche and audience, so there may be cases where YouTube Lives are more popular than TikTok Lives.</p>

<p class="Sans-15px-black-70% feed-base-main-content ember-view" dir="ltr"><span id="ember7583" class="ember-view">but I regret to inform you that I have failed in my search. </span></p>
<p class="Sans-15px-black-70% feed-base-main-content ember-view" dir="ltr"><span id="ember7583" class="ember-view">I was searching for the first person who took a chance on me and gave me my first permanent job in Marketing. </span></p>
<p class="Sans-15px-black-70% feed-base-main-content ember-view" dir="ltr"><span id="ember7583" class="ember-view">Months after my appointment I remember her telling me that she had fought for me. There were other candidates being considered. </span></p>
<p class="Sans-15px-black-70% feed-base-main-content ember-view" dir="ltr"><span id="ember7583" class="ember-view">I was filled with so much gratitude then as I still am now. To have someone believe* IN YOU is a wonderful feeling. </span></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone. We have reached another significant milestone. Thank you for accompanying me on this journey to 400 blog posts. This is the 401st post. It is a great achievement and I&#8217;m sure that without you reading my posts that I would not have got this far. I founded Marketing Fundamentals Ltd in October 2010 and blogging was always part of my marketing plan for the business.  It is still very effective at driving traffic to our website. Social media is also important, of course, and a lot has changed with Social Media since 2010. Some Social Media platforms have come and gone in the time that I have been blogging. &#8211; R.I.P Vine.</p>
<h2>400 Blog Posts</h2>
<p>What remains constant is the benefits that businesses receive when they start delivering value to their audience in the form of a regular blog. Yes, blogging requires planning and must be well executed but it is definitely worth the investment in time and resource. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Content Marketing has reached the maturity stage in the UK, which means that the majority of B2B companies that we meet with here and internationally have a general understanding of what Content Marketing is now. We no longer have to behave as Content Marketing evangelists as we did when Marketing Fundamentals Ltd was founded in 2010. Market maturity also means that there are quite a few other companies in the marketplace offering Content Marketing and Social Media management services. We have an abundance mindset and welcome healthy competition; furthermore we have come to appreciate that others have their own way of doing things. As far we can tell, our approach is different and I will explain why.</p>
<h2>Our Approach</h2>
<p>We work with best of breed companies that are exceptional at what they do but unfortunately for them their profile does not match their levels of service or the plaudits they regularly receive from their existing clients. These businesses want to grow their customer base. Our primary objective for these businesses is the building of new long-term relationships for them and our conduit is content. From these relationships will come new leads and sales. We take a qualitative approach to content creation, in most cases it will be the same person writing your corporate blog posts week in and week out. The benefit of this is that we really get to understand your business not just on a superficial level but also the subtleties and nuances.</p>
<p>This means that we are easily able to cross reference earlier posts and to perform efficiently as part of your team. The posts that we write for you deliver value to your audience. We work collaboratively with you and will integrate relevant company news and updates into your Content Calendar. Our Social Media strategies follow a similar qualitative approach, we use the appropriate platforms to boost engagement and generate new leads and sales for your business. We have taken Paul Graham&#8217;s words to heart.</p>

<p>I think for this reason we will never become a monolithic agency. We strongly value our relationships with our clients and provide wonderful service for them. We are not in relentless pursuit of more clients. We enjoy working with our clients and building new relationships for them. Our clients are active in high value markets including construction, architecture, engineering and property development to name a few. These are sectors in which we can deliver the most value.</p>
<h2>Delivering Results</h2>
<p>A new project secured via Content Marketing and Social Media activity in these sectors can mean millions of pounds of additional revenue and a ROI of several thousand per cent. This is not hypothetical; we have delivered new sales of this magnitude. We even helped one of our clients get acquired by a multinational company by raising their profile and visibility in their industry over the course of two years. This is not something we can guarantee for everyone, of course.</p>

This blog post is an answer I gave on <a href="https://www.quora.com/What-were-your-first-6-months-of-blogging-like/answer/Mike-Pitt-1" target="_blank">Quora</a> to the question, What Were Your first 6 Months of Blogging Like?  I decided to share it here because I believe it will give encouragement to B2B bloggers and marketing professionals who work with agencies to create great content.</p>
<p>&#8216; This is a great question. I had very realistic expectations when I started blogging professionally in 2010. I was working for a large international advertising agency as a consultant at the time I started my blog and knew that it would take time to build an audience. The results were much better than I expected. Within a few weeks of blogging I had people commenting on my posts on my website and responding to the posts when I tweeted them on Twitter. I was starting a lot of conversations and people appreciated that I was creating great content rather than just retweeting other people&#8217;s content.<br />
I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly people responded and can only attribute that to the content because the website template I was using at the time was horrible! Haha. In hindsight I was fortunate that my consultancy work meant that I had a &#8216;long runway&#8217; with regard to the blog. I didn&#8217;t need to earn money from it straightaway and I was able to develop what I refer to as my Blog Voice as I wrote each week. At that point I had committed to writing a post per week.</p>
<p><strong>Advice for Bloggers </strong></p>
<p>My advice to you is this:</p>
<p>1. Commit to a regular weekly time slot to write your posts and also a regular time to publish them. Your audience will come to expect them and you&#8217;ll see spikes in web traffic on these days.<br />
2. Do not be discouraged, at one point every blogger in the world has had the thought that no-one is reading their posts. In most cases, this is incorrect. It&#8217;s just that only a small percentage of people confirm they have read your posts or leave a comment.<br />
3. Good luck with your blog and if you&#8217;d like me read one of your posts message me and I will give you honest feedback.&#8217;</p>
