There are many alternatives to the usual choices of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest. In my answer I listed some of them.</p>
<h2>Unusual Social Media</h2>

<p class="ui_qtext_para">I have a few suggestions for you but I should start by stating that unusual social media is fairly subjective. My assumption is that your list of usual would include Twitter, FaceBook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google + and Pinterest. With that clarification, here are my suggestions:</p>

It is the largest of the social media platforms powered by Blockchain technology.</li>

<p>A couple of years ago, I was very active on Quora. I was answering two or three questions per day and then I had to take a break. I took a break because I was getting inundated with questions that were asking me to complete projects and to give detailed answers to strategic questions. Questions that really should come through my business, Marketing Fundamentals Ltd; people were being cheeky and asking for a full scope of work on Quora. I did not want to give out free consultancy via Quora, I was happy to give out guidelines and pointers but not to complete chargeable work for free. People were asking very specific questions about their own projects rather than general questions.</p>
<p>Now that I am becoming more active on Quora again, I will make a judgment on a question by question basis in terms of the information being requested. <p>This is blog post 328. This blog post is an answer I gave on <a href="https://www.quora.com/profile/Mike-Pitt-1" target="_blank">Quora</a> to the question asked in the title,  How Important are Hashtags on Twitter in 2015? It is an interesting question. There is a general feeling among non users and light users of Twitter that hashtags are no longer relevant. As a Social Media platform Twitter is constantly evolving and the general consensus seems to be that hashtags are somehow passé. This point of view that hashtags are &#8216;so 2012&#8217; is conveyed brilliantly in this sketch from Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.</p>

<p><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> There was a time when hashtags were being overused and by that I mean too many being included into one particular tweet. In some cases tweets were being composed entirely of hashtags but poor usage on the part of some Twitter users did not mean that hashtags had become irrelevant.</p>
<p>In actual fact hashtags are still important in 2015 because they enable Twitter users to join conversations other Twitter users may be having around the same topic that you are tweeting about. This still works today.</p>
<p>Consider one of the most famous hashtags of recent years #BringBackOurGirls. This was a hashtag created after around 300 Nigerian schoolgirls from Chibok were kidnapped in mid April 2014. There was a slow response from the Nigerian government to the kidnapping by Boko Haram and a series of international protests were held around the world. At the same time #BringBackOurGirls began trending on Twitter and by 11th May it attracted 2.3 million tweets. Clearly, the hashtag helped to spread the news of the kidnapped girls.</p>

<p>Two online resources will help you track the popularity of any particular hashtag. The first is called <a href="https://www.hashtags.org" target="_blank">hashtags.org</a> . This resource will confirm tell you how many tweets per hour have been sent using a particular hashtag. Simply type your hashtag into the search box at the top of the home page. The second great resource is <a href="http://hashtagify.me" target="_blank">Hashtagify.me &#8211; Search And Find The Best Twitter Hashtags </a>&#8211; This site helps you find the best hashtags related to a particular topic. Both resources can be used for free. We use them to identify the most effective hashtags for our clients&#8217; tweets.</p>
<p>Best practice use of hashtags is not to include too many in a single tweet. One or two is better than three. Use the tools above to research the hashtags that are likely to give you most traction and extend your reach on Twitter.</p>

Quora is a a free to join question and answer based website. Questions are created, answered and edited by a community of users. Answers can then be  &#8216;upvoted&#8217; to reflect their popularity. If you have never visited the Quora site you can do so here. <a href="http://www.quora.com" target="_blank">Quora.com</a> Quora was founded in 2009 by two ex Facebook employees, Adam D&#8217;Angelo and Charlie Cheever.  Although not on the scale of Facebook, Twitter or linkedIn, Quora which has approximately 10- 15 million monthly active users has achieved a level of fame because of the high profile nature of some of its users particularly in the technology sector and because of the detail that is often provided in the answers.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>1. Who uses Quora?</strong></p>
<p>High profile users include:  <a href="http://www.quora.com/Michael-Bublé-1" target="_blank">Michael Bublé</a> , <a href="http://www.quora.com/Stephen-Fry-1" target="_blank">Stephen Fry</a>  and <a href="http://www.quora.com/Ashton-Kutcher" target="_blank">Ashton Kutcher</a>  who is an angel investor for many technology companies as well as a successful Hollywood actor.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">To use the words of Mark Twain, &#8220;People do business with those they know, like and trust. &#8221; Quora is a great opportunity for you to demonstrate your company&#8217;s expertise and integrity by answering questions relevant to your business or enterprise. In doing so you will build your profile and a level of trust in the minds of your target audience. There is also probably less activity from your competitors on Quora than there will be on Twitter and LinkedIn, for example.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>4. What should you do on Quora?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Create a profile with links to your business site and Social Media profiles and begin answering questions. You&#8217;ll find that the more you answer the more you&#8217;ll be asked to answer directly . When relevant it is acceptable to mention a resource (book, course or workshop) that you have created providing it answers the question being asked. Best practice in that case would be to give an answer to the question and then refer to your available resources. It&#8217;s important that you remember that you are on Quora to create relationships and build trust so steer clear of overt sales messages.</p>
