<p>This video will be of interest to business owners, B2B marketing managers, Content Marketing professionals, Social Media Managers and LinkedIn users who use a website to promote their B2B business.</p>
<h2>Domain Authority 2.0</h2>
<p>Domain authority is an important website metric created by a company called Moz. Moz  are a company that sell products and services designed to improve the SEO performance of your website. They created the algorithm that determines a website&#8217;s domain authority. If you have a website, your website&#8217;s domain authority is indicative of your website&#8217;s reputation. As you would expect, websites such as Google and YouTube have high domain authority scores of 99 or 100. The maximum a site can score is 100; a high domain authority score means that the website in question is likely to perform well in Search Engine Results Pages or SERPs as they are known.</p>
<p>On March 5th 2019, Moz released Domain Authority 2.0. This was an update to their algorithm. The update changed the weighting of many variables and took into account the total quantity of backlinks a site has and not just the quality of the best backlinks that a website has. It also gave greater consideration to a website&#8217;s Spam Score. The update meant that many websites had new domain authority scores overnight; many had gone down and some had gone up.</p>

<p>If your website performs well in a competitive niche and you generate good volumes of traffic from search engines, you may attract some unwelcome attention from your competitors. One response to your good search rankings and traffic may be for one of your competitors to launch a Negative SEO campaign against your website.</p>
<p>In this scenario, one of more of your competitors deliberates attempts to harm your business by attaching low quality and often inappropriate backlinks to your website. Their intention is to drive you down the search engine rankings and to ensure that fewer visitors view your website. Fewer visitors will mean fewer leads and customers. <p>Unless I am in a room full of SEO specialists or content marketing managers, talking about internal links on blog pages is unlikely to make me lots of new friends. I might soon find myself standing all by myself if I mentioned the subject at a social gathering, for example. It may not the most captivating of subjects to the layman, but it is vitally important in determining how successful your website is in retaining prospective customers and decreasing your website&#8217;s bounce rate. <h2>Internal Links: Why are they so Important?</h2>
<p>Internal links are important because they improve your website&#8217;s SEO and encourage your website&#8217;s visitors to read other related blog posts and stay on your website longer. In turn, this will make them more likely to consider your company&#8217;s products and services. Furthermore, a happy by product of this increased average session duration is that Google and other search engines will consider your website to be a <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a style="color: #ff0000;" href="https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2795821?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">quality website and will send you more organic traffic.</a></span> There are many factors that Google considers in this respect but average session duration and bounce rate are two important ones that you can influence directly.</p>
<p>Of course, you will need to create good content on a regular basis if increasing internal links is to be an effective strategy for you. We can help you with that. Do not rely on the WordPress &#8216;related posts&#8217; plugin to promote internal links because that appears at the bottom of blog posts and many of your readers will have clicked away before they get to the bottom.</p>
<h2>Internal Links: Are you Using Them Enough?</h2>
<p>There is no hard and fast rule about the number of internal links per post but I have found that 5 or 6 relevant internal links is normally enough to encourage web visitors to read more posts. You should insert internal links into every blog post. They can be organically integrated into the post and also listed midway though the blog post. Interestingly enough, for a recent project we have inserted a minimum of 10 internal links into every blog post and the average session duration for that website is currently 6 minutes and 18 seconds! This is beyond our expectations and demonstrates how effective internal links are.</p>
<p>So, are you using internal links enough? Fortunately, it is something you can change quite easily and you can also go back and add more internal links to all of your popular posts. Your Google analytics report will tell you which are your most popular posts.</p>

<p>One question we have been asked many times, by B2B business owners and marketing professionals, is this one, how many web visitors should we have each month? There are lots of variables that contribute to the amount of web traffic a particular website achieves. Variables such as the sector that the company is in and the age of the company will have a significant impact on the potential audience size for any website. Most companies that we work with are B2B companies with less than 50 employees, for companies like this, we have found a benchmark of 1000 visitors per month to be realistic. Newer companies maybe nowhere near this figure yet and well established companies may easily surpass it.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s important not to focus solely on monthly visitors of course, tracking conversions of visitors into leads and customers is crucial to understand what part your website is playing in the new business development process.</p>
<h2>How to Achieve 1000 Visitors per Month</h2>
<p>How often are you blogging on your site? Are you and your team able to drive traffic to your site using Social Media? When did you last assess the quality of the backlinks pointing to your site? These are all questions that should be considered before a solution can be provided.</p>
